Privacy Policy

Foldy · Last updated 23 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Foldy (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with the Foldy app for iOS (the “App”). We built Foldy to keep your content private by default, and this policy describes exactly what that means.

The short version

1. Your content stays yours

Everything you create in Foldy — folders, notes, photos, imported PDFs, to-do items, and habits — is stored locally on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud and have iCloud enabled for Foldy, this content syncs across your own devices using Apple’s CloudKit private database.

This means your content is stored in your personal iCloud account, governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. We have no access to it, we cannot read it, and it is never transmitted to our servers — because we do not operate servers that receive your content.

2. Diagnostics & analytics (opt-in)

Foldy can optionally send anonymous diagnostics to help us fix crashes and improve the App. This is opt-in and off by default: nothing is collected until you explicitly enable “Share Analytics”, either during onboarding or later in Settings → Share Analytics. You can turn it back off at any time.

When — and only when — you enable it, we use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to collect:

DataPurposeLinked to you?
Crash logsApp functionality / stabilityNo
Performance dataApp functionality / stabilityNo
Other diagnostic dataApp functionality / stabilityNo
Product interaction (usage events)AnalyticsNo
Device identifierAnalyticsNo

This data is not linked to your identity and is never used to track you across other apps or websites. We never include the content of your folders, notes, photos, PDFs, to-dos, or habits in any diagnostic report.

Firebase processes this data on our behalf. See Firebase’s Privacy and Security and Google’s Privacy Policy for details on their handling.

3. What we do not do

4. Permissions the App may request

Foldy only requests access to system features you actively use. For example, importing a photo or document prompts the system picker. These selections are stored in your folders on your device and iCloud as described above; we do not separately collect or transmit them.

5. Children’s privacy

Foldy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App does not require an account and stores content in your own iCloud, no personal information is collected by us regardless of the user’s age.

6. Your choices & rights

7. Data retention

Your content is retained in your iCloud account until you delete it. Anonymous diagnostic data, if you have opted in, is retained according to Firebase’s default retention settings and is not associated with your identity.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
